What, if any, were the consequences of the removal for you? Please give details
Loss of hope in this society. There was an announcement of a show and the removal made me lose a few days.
My work falls within community guidelines, but it was censored anyway.
I am two spirit, a non binary person. Instagram community guidelines refer to women’s nipples only (which i think is still wrong). I marked clearly in my post that this is protest art, and I marked my gender. This is a very heavy piece, which shows my body sunburned in the pattern of my work. this series is about healing, forgiveness and it hurt again to be removed. I am a week behind showing this work as fighting censorship takes time and energy. thank you

“Am your mirror” is a journey about trauma, healing, forgiveness, accepting your own identity, your own body, sexuality, and strength. I created this body of work during my residency in Instituto sacatar in Bahia, Brazil.
